Christopher Bader, Ph.D., LP, CMPC
Chair
Dr. Bader was elected chair following a three-year stint as the inaugural Vice-Chair of CCSPA. Currently, he is the Assistant Athletic Director for Mental Health & Performance at the University of Arkansas and the National Team Sport Psychologist for USA Boxing, Inc. Chris spent time in the athletic departments at the University of Oklahoma (2007-2012) and the University of Colorado (2012-2019) before beginning at the University of Arkansas. Chris is married to LaTisha Bader, a licensed psychologist, sport psychologist, and addiction expert; and, together they have one daughter.

Kelli Moran-Miller, Ph.D., LP., CMPC
Vice Chair
Dr. Kelli Moran-Miller is the Director of Sport Psychology for Stanford Athletics, joining the department in October 2015, and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She is a licensed psychologist, a Certified Mental Performance Consultant with AASP, and a member of the USOC Sport Psychology Registry. In her current role, she provides sport psychology services to student-athletes and the Stanford athletic department. Prior to Stanford, Dr. Moran-Miller was the Director of Counseling and Sport Psychology for Athletics at the University of Iowa where she also supervised a practicum site for the University of Iowa’s counseling psychology doctoral program.

Josie Nicholson, Ph.D., LP, CMPC

Dr. Josie Nicholson is a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Mississippi and a Certified Mental Performance Consultant through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology. A native of Oxford, MS, Dr. Nicholson joined the University of Mississippi Health and Sport Performance Staff in 2012. She has worked in a variety of settings including community mental health, substance abuse treatment, diagnostics and assessment, and different university counseling centers. She has trained extensively in the use of hypnosis, and is also trained in the specialty areas of EMDR, group therapy, and sport performance.

Dr. Mac Brown is the Assistant Director of Clinical Operations at Keene State College Counseling Center, joining the staff in 2016. He is a licensed clinical psychologist and Certified Mental Performance Consultant with AASP. Dr. Brown provides clinical services to college aged students including student athletes, serves as a liaison to the athletics department, and maintains private practice work outside of the college setting with athletes from various backgrounds and skill levels.

Jeni Shannon, Ph.D., LP, CMPC

Dr. Jeni Shannon serves as the Director of the Carolina Athletics Mental Health and Performance Psychology Program at the University of North Carolina, providing performance enhancement and psychological services to student-athletes. Dr. Shannon joined the department as a part-time consultant in 2014 before transitioning her current position. Previously, Dr. Shannon served as a Counseling and Sport Psychologist at Regis University in Denver, Colorado and maintained a private practice in Denver. She is a licensed psychologist, a Certified Mental Performance Consultant with AASP and a member of the USOC Sport Psychology Registry.

Dr. Brendan Carr is a Licensed Psychologist with the Carolina Athletics Mental Health and Performance Psychology Program at The University of North Carolina. He provides performance enhancement and psychological services to student-athletes at UNC. Prior to his time at UNC, he served as the primary mental health provider for Penn State University Intercollegiate Athletics. He is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant with AASP, a member of the USOC Sport Psychology Registry, and Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist with NSCA.

Dr. Houle is a licensed psychologist at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Jameson Crane Sports Medicine Institute. He holds a clinical assistant professor position in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. He currently serves as the Lead Sport Psychologist for OSU Athletics. Dr. Houle provides performance enhancement, mental health services for athletes, and consultation to coaches, staff, and administration.

Tom Golightly, Ph.D.
Research and Information Chair
Dr. Tom Golightly is the Assistant Director-Athletics in Brigham Young University’s Counseling and Psychological Services, coordinating the team of psychologists tasked with providing mental health and performance psychology counseling to BYU student-athletes. He also has a private practice with a clientele mainly consisting of athletes from all levels of competition in the community – ranging from youth club sports to professional athletes. He served as a sport psychologist at Texas Tech University before his time at BYU. He completed his undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Italian at The University of Arizona and his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at Brigham Young University. He is a licensed psychologist with certification in treating sleep dyssomnias.

Gary Bennett, Ph.D., LP

Gary Bennett is in his 19th year as the Virginia Tech Athletic Department’s clinical and sport psychologist and recently was promoted to an Associate Athletic Director position. He oversees a staff of three clinicians and works with both individual athletes and with teams on personal, clinical, and performance issues. He also serves on several department committees including the Substance Abuse Monitoring and Assistance Committee, the Nutrition and Performance Committee, the ADHD review committee, the Sexual Abuse Prevention Committee, and the planning committee for the biannual Summit for Student-Athlete Success. In addition, he is on the staff of the Leadership Institute in the Department.

Kelsey dawson, Psy.D.
Education Chair
Dr. Kelsey Dawson is a Sport Psychologist at Purdue University, joining the staff in July 2019. In her current role, she provides performance enhancement and mental health services to all Purdue student-athletes, as well as consultation with Purdue Athletics coaches, staff, and administration. She has worked with student-athletes since 2016 at multiple NCAA Division I institutions.
